Lyrics
With Abandon
A woman who'd suffered for so many years
Pushed through the crowd to the Man.
She'd heard that He loved, she'd heard that He healed
With words or a touch of His hand.
She thought that if she could get close
And touch the corner of His robe,
She'd be made clean again.
She stretched out her hand.
And He knew,
Though He didn't see,
He looked at her
And said, "You're healed because you believe."
If this is what it means
To have faith and be set free,
I will trust
With abandon.
The Man with all power and authority
Put some water into a bowl.
He slowly bent down on His knee
And washed the feet of those He'd come to know.
Then one of them said, "My Lord, You cannot
Take upon Yourself so lowly a job."
The man said "Yes, I can,
And you also should do this."
For He knew,
Though they didn't see.
He wanted them to
Learn love and humility.
If this is what it means
To be served by the King of Kings,
I will serve
With abandon.
The Man who had taught and had healed and had loved
Warned His friends of what would come,
Reminding them to do as He'd done,
To love as He loved us.
And, out of that love, He went
Through suffering and then through death
He took all of our sin
So faith could make us clean again.
For He saw
What we couldn't see.
He paid the price
So we could be free.
If this is what it means
To be loved in spite of everything,
I will love
With abandon.
And here is what my hope lies in:
Death couldn't keep its hold on Him.
And I rejoice just to see
How defeat gave way to victory!
And He lives,
Though I cannot see,
I can feel
Him working in me,
I can hear
Him call me "Masterpiece".
If this is what it means
To have faith and be set free,
To be served by the King of Kings,
To be loved in spite of everything
By the One who conquered death for me,
I will trust
With abandon,
I will serve
With abandon
I will lovebr/>With abandon,
I will praise
With abandon,
I will live
With abandon.
