Lyrics
The Masterpiece
Its edges are rough,
Its surface is worn.
It sparkles in the light,
But it seems to have no form.
Not much about it is beautiful,
It's too imperfect to be considered wonderful.
But You see
More than meets the eye,
You see
What is buried on the inside,
You see
A beauty that is so deep,
You see
The uncarved masterpiece.
Its edges are smooth,
Its surface is clean.
It is blank and unused,
There is nothing there to see.
Not much about it is beautiful,
It's too imperfect to be considered wonderful.
But You see
More than meets the eye,
You see
Colors dancing in the light,
You see
A beauty that is so sweet,
You see
The unpainted masterpiece.
Its edges are thin,
Its surface is lined.
It's waiting for me
To decide what to write.
What about this is beautiful?
How can an empty page be considered wonderful?
But You see
More than meets the eye,
You see
The words that I can't find,
You see
The beauty that I seek,
You see
The unwritten masterpiece.
I look in the mirror
And think that I'm too weak.
I do not know why
You have this love for me.
But You see
More than meets the eye,
You see
What is forming on the inside,
You see
The beauty in me,
You see
The unfinished masterpiece.
You see
The masterpiece.
